Naturally, the music also attracted attention at this year's Tony Award nominations.
Alicia Keys' ambitious musical “Hell's Kitchen'' and “Stereophonic,'' a play about a fictional band set in the '70s, topped the list with 13 nods each. The musical “The Outsiders,'' based on the popular novel by SE Hinton, also inspired a 1983 film with a superstar cast that received 12 nominations. Next, “Cabaret'' led by Eddie Redmayne was revived with nine members.
