Meaning “to fall asleep” in Hindi, this new local startup is promoting the idea of sustainable bed linen. The sheets are made from single yarn spun from long-staple organic cotton fibers (the longer the fiber, the smoother the material, and Sojao's sheets have been praised for being ultra-soft and supple). Unlike many big brands, the sheets aren't treated with anti-wrinkle chemicals like formaldehyde resins or toxic synthetic fabric finishes, so they won't irritate your skin. Award-winning designers Nathan Yong and Jeffery Kurniadijaya, the powerhouse duo behind lifestyle brand Grafunkt, have partnered with renowned Swiss furniture brand Vitra to open a store here. The store features a carefully curated selection of products from the brand in Milan, London and Copenhagen. The brand and the idea behind it is to offer a range of products that showcase creativity, functionality and quality, including chairs, tables, bed frames and accessories. Founded in the 1970s, this self-described “family of Karang Guni merchants” specializes in second-hand furniture and antiques originally from Singapore homes and hotels. Some of their found furniture has been upcycled or refurbished, adding unique and quirky touches (such as a pastel-coloured vintage sewing table).
