Any parent of a toddler knows how important it is to keep your home baby-safe. A dog from the United Kingdom is an important reminder to pet parents that there are some items in the home that absolutely have to be. dog repellent.
That's because the dog started a fire in the family's kitchen that nearly destroyed the entire house.
CBS News coverage,”England's Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said the family's kitchen was “filled with smoke” when rescuers arrived at the scene. Firefighters had to use hose reel jets to differentiate the fire, but were able to do so quickly before ventilating the premises. All the damage was contained to the kitchen.
“This morning we received a call of a kitchen fire after an item was left on the stove,” duty manager Rob Fossett said in a press release Wednesday. “My dog accidentally turned it on.”

I can't even imagine how horrible this must have been for the family, but luckily no one was hurt.
I never thought my dog would pull a stunt like this. Because dogs are too short to even reach near where the gas knob on the stove is. It was easy to turn it on by just walking on the cooktop.
Any cat parent knows that cats love nothing more than to run across the kitchen counter, no matter how much water you splash on them or how much you tell them no.
If my dog was taller, I can see how he could turn the knobs on the countertop. Also, my own countertop has a lock button. This is an important note for pet parents to check to see if their oven or oven/stove/cooktop combination has the same features.
How to keep your dog safe in the kitchen
Never leave your dog alone in the kitchen while you cook or fry something on the stove. This is because the smell may be too attractive for puppies and they may get burned trying to pick up the sample.
Non-slip rugs and mats are helpful in the kitchen, especially for older dogs who are starting to have mobility issues.
Store hazardous items such as detergents, chemicals, and sharp items such as knives and scissors safely in cabinets or locked drawers that your dog cannot access.
Make sure you have a locked trash can or trash can so your puppy can't get in there.
When it comes to stoves, most retailers sell stove knob locks to prevent children, fur babies, and humans from turning on the stove.
We all love having our dogs keep us company while we cook, but remember to keep them safe while you're cooking.
