Choosing a color palette for your kitchen that's as soothing as it is aesthetically pleasing can be a challenge, but there's one option that consistently fits the bill, and it happens to have royal approval.
In 2022 (in honor of the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee), Prince William and Duchess Kate shared a glimpse of their farmhouse kitchen. That color choice remains timeless almost two years later. The cabinet color in question, off-white/cream, is a forever stylish and versatile choice, but there's more to this shade than functionality.color expert Marianne Shillingford William and Kate explain that their space lacks an important theme of tranquility, made possible by their choice of paint for the cabinets. And the benefits of a white kitchen can be replicated far beyond this royal residence.
“The kitchen is the heart of the home, so it can be quite difficult to stay cool, calm and collected under the pressure of having to cook for a young family. Kate makes people feel comfortable. “She knows a thing or two about reassuring, so it's no surprise that she combines the most relaxing and elegant creams with subtle off-whites in the kitchen,'' says Shillingford.
The prince and princess chose (what appears to be) two cream colors for their farmhouse kitchen. The first is the one on the wall, which seems to omit warm light, while the cabinets are slightly cooler.
“A delicate balance of cool and warm colors in different areas can help reduce the heat during even the most hectic mealtimes. Use warmer shades in areas where you sit and relax in a cool area.” [tones] In the cooking space.
Additionally, while the cabinet color itself is a reason to pay attention, the contrasting dark countertops of Prince and Princess are also worth celebrating.
“Dark countertops are a rising trend in kitchen design. Contrary to what people often think, black or dark kitchens aren't always somber and austere,” says Mohd, head of design at Caesarstone.・Chrisher commented. And naturally, the color combinations of this family seamlessly master this look.
“Dark colors can be bold and dramatic, or warm and glamorous. “I’m a big fan of dark countertops paired with metal accents like taps and handles,” Krisher says.
“Pairing dark surfaces with light cabinets and floors can keep the space feeling open and neutral. This is especially beneficial if you want to create a cozy atmosphere but your kitchen isn't very large. .”
