One scoop of ice cream is never enough. And one pie is worth another. With that in mind, Edith decided her one-book cookbook, chock-full of tried-and-true recipes from her great-grandmother's time to the present, wasn't enough. .
So Shinko decided that her cookbook, which she published four years ago and titled “Fabulous Kitchen Traditions,” needed some extra “help” with recipes and stories.
So she once again asked family and friends for recipes and once again shared the second volume, titled “Great Kitchen Traditions – Continued.”
Cinco said the second batch will feature a variety of family favorites, old and new.
“It's easy to find recipes online, but sometimes they're incomplete or difficult to execute,” she said. “Volume 2 is packed with tried and true recipes and easy-to-follow instructions.”
Cinco's goal is to create a book with recipes that are approachable to cooks of all skill levels, just like her first cookbook. Either way, they're all easy to read and follow, and the results have been verified by cooks of all skill sets.
“I love cooking and feeding my family, and I love the traditions that come with it, but I also love finding new recipes and new experiences,” Cinco said.
“Someone asked me if I could make Kahlua. I had never thought about it, but I was intrigued. Now that people are asking for it, the recipe is in the book. Same goes for vanilla extract. “The challenge of finding the perfect recipe can be just as fun as actually making the dish.”
Many of the cookbook contributors feel the same way.
“Searching for and discovering dishes that are delicious and excite others is a reward that every chef wants to receive,” Cinco said. “Popular recipes in Volume 2 include Mrs. Colleen's Louisiana Gumbo, submitted by Donna McClendon, and a recipe from Edith's mother, Kathryn Williams Dunn. Divinity and her lemon cheesecake.
In addition to these and other new recipes, Synco has some fan favorites and some of the most requested recipes from the first cookbook, including a delicious cheesecake recipe.
The cookbooks are available for pre-order now until March 25th and are priced at just $20 each. All proceeds from the sale of the cookbook will be donated to the Park Memorial Methodist Project. Contact Park Memorial Methodist Church at 334-566-3881 or parkmemorial@troycable.net.
