Flooring: Ashley purchased Denton panels from the Mission Collection's Avalon Ultra series for the floor.
Backsplash: Cle dry vellum tiles define the main backsplash and bar alcove. In the latter, it is combined with his Zia Tile's Burnt Sugar, also from his 4×4 jelly, to form a checkered design. “Because the tiles are handmade, no two are alike. The textured surface adds a really fun detail,” says Ashley.
Flight: Leather and steel seats purchased from RJ Imports line the island.
Dining table: A vintage wood design from Provence, France, takes center stage in the adjacent dining area. “I feel so lucky to have such a special piece because her aunt had it in her house in San Francisco for a long time,” Ashley recalls.
Dining chair: Rattan armchairs from Crate & Barrel surround the table.
Lug: A handmade seagrass rug from Lush House supports the dining table. “It’s incredibly durable,” Ashley reveals. “Plus, each square is sewn on so you can customize it to fit your size.”
Wooden shelf: Santa Ana's Austin Hardwood's white oak design enlivens the backsplash and bar alcove. The mantel above the fireplace is made from gray wood found in an old barn.
counter: The Perla Venata quartzite that makes up the counter was sourced from Orlin Stone in Anaheim. “This is my pride and joy,” Ashley said of the stone, which was quarried in Italy. “I could go on talking about that forever.”
Equipment: All handles and knobs are from Schoolhouse's Edgecliff Collection.
Bar pendant: The scalloped pendant above the bar is Ashley's handiwork, made of porcelain laid over a wok.
Most insane splurge: “Quartzite countertops are definitely the answer. We love hosting dinner parties and cooking, so we wanted something with depth and character. We knew we'd get a lot of use out of it. , I wanted something that would get better as the years went by,” Ashley says.
