BATH TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WLIO) – Bath Township residents have brought new economic vitality to the Bath Fire Department after a levy approved Tuesday.
Bath Township voters yesterday approved the 2.5 Mills levy on the March primary ballot, with 61% voting in favor of restoring fire department staffing and capital projects. Bath Fire Department appreciates the support of local residents in voting.
After the levy failed to pass in November, the fire department reopened the March ballot to voters for the first time in more than 20 years. The department is pleased that voters understand the importance of approving the additional funding needed for the fire department. Although levy funds will not be realized until the end of February 2025, Bath Fire Chief Joseph Kitchen assured residents that the town board and fire department are already optimistic about the future of the Bath community.
“At least once we see that money coming in, we'll be able to partially recoup some of the cuts we've made. I work very closely with the township board and the treasurer. We will continue to work together to plan for the future. Although this year will still be difficult, we know that better days will come and we are very grateful for that. This is very important. .When these local issues are on the ballot, we know these are things that impact our communities. We may not have to use the fire department, but our communities It's going to be used by a lot of people, so we're really grateful that people have come out and supported it.”
Bath Township voters also approved an additional $1 million levy for Bath roads, with 55% voting in favor of infrastructure improvements.
