A dad wowed Kmart shoppers with his genius twist on a simple piece of toast. George Georgievski, a recipe creator with a large following on Instagram, often shares fun lunch box ideas on his social media.
Armed with a $7.50 two-slice sandwich maker from an affordable mass-market store, he enriched his children's lunches by substituting potatoes for bread.
Using simple ingredients found in most households, such as butter, potatoes, ham, and cheese, he explained the cooking process in easy-to-follow videos. “My $7.50 Kmart Toasty Maker. Take your toasting to the next level! Check this out,” George wrote in the caption.
First, he slices the potatoes thinly. This can be done using a knife or a mandolin. He then fills the hot toastmaker with plenty of butter.
I then layered the potato slices on top of the butter so the edges overlapped and sprinkled a generous amount of shredded cheese and ham on top.
Finally, he added a layer of potatoes on top, closed the toast maker and cooked for 10 minutes.
“Okay, it took about 10 minutes, let's take a look at this,” he said, opening the toastmaker to reveal a golden, crispy snack. After adding sour cream between the layers, he took a bite of the crunchy toast.
