Renowned designers ensure KBIS success
Alan Zielinski's appointment as president of the National Kitchen & Bath Association coincides with a pivotal time for the NKBA and the association's trade show, the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS).
Mr. Zielinski is an accomplished designer whose firm has served the Chicago market for more than 60 years, and as NKBA chairman in 2012, he led the company through important negotiations that enabled its co-location with the Chicago market, as did KBIS, which he founded at the time. He was instrumental in guiding the association. The National Association of Home Builders' International Builders Show (IBS) is suffering from the recession. This decision is widely credited with reversing the fortunes of his two most important trade shows in the industry.
Mr. Zielinski's Niles, Illinois-based company, Better Kitchens, was founded in 1956 by his father, Ed, a founding member of the American Kitchen Dealers Association, the predecessor of the NKBA, and his design projects include several It adorns the pages of publications. He is an accomplished commercial pilot, certified flight instructor, and Federal Aviation Administration-designated examiner who has flown single-engine aircraft, corporate jets, vintage aircraft, and hot air balloons.
