Honolulu's Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort (which we reviewed earlier this year) recently underwent more than $80 million in renovations.

Following a soft launch last year, the restaurant finally officially opened earlier this month, welcoming hundreds of guests to the celebration.
Monkey Pod Kitchen by Merriman Located at the base of Diamond Head Tower, this 1,115-square-meter restaurant sits on the golden sands of Waikiki Beach and offers panoramic ocean views. The menu celebrates high-quality local cuisine, using socially conscious ingredients and a unique combination of premium products and inland favorites. And the daily live music that goes along with it.

Having enjoyed this restaurant on a recent visit, I can affirm what they say monkey pod That's true.
The seared ahi tuna (pictured below) was, without exaggeration, one of the best meals I've ever had.
The result is a combination of flavors that I have never experienced before. My friend described it as a Thanksgiving dinner, but with sashimi instead of turkey. I thought that was very appropriate. Perfectly grilled tuna was combined with vegetables, jalapeño mashed potatoes, and gravy to create a flavor combination that shouldn't go wrong, but definitely did.
Their pizza is also great and they have great deals on pizza at lunchtime. Of course we tried the lobster pizza and it was delicious especially with a little squeeze of lemon.
They make their own ginger beer, offer 30 beers on tap, and bake their own pies, including monthly specials. When I visited in December of this year, it was Ginger Snaps White Chocolate. All of this was enjoyed with live music. our night is Kona Abergas.
A common feature of the area, this restaurant features local performers day and night. You can also enjoy similar dining options at all Monkey Pod locations on Oahu and Maui.
Chef Peter Merriman monkey pod Honolulu alone is worth the trip. If you have time to go into town just for one meal, this is the one to try. Their “farm to table” approach is second to none, and the prices are incredibly reasonable considering the quality. Plus, they also have great lunch discounts, especially on pizza.
Monkey Pod Kitchen by Merriman Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort welcomes guests daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and hosts happy hour daily from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
