Rainelle's newest restaurant doesn't have regular servers.
Hightail Hannah, Texas Tee Ira, Rodeo Ronald, and Round Up Rebecca are just a few of the errands who bring the food to you in the Cowboy Kitchen.
Their work clothes are cowboy hats and boots. They can sing and dance.
Owner Tammy Vandal describes them as providing “entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights and birthday parties with a wholesome American staff of songs and dances on request.”
Vandal, 57, loves horses and the town of Lynelle, so he decided to open a cowboy-themed restaurant as part of his retirement plan. Although she is from Quinnwood, she moved far and traveled extensively until she returned after her and her husband's home in North Carolina burned down.
“We just decided that when our house burned down, it was a sign to go back to West Virginia, where we belong,” she said. “There's no place like home.”
Cowboy Kitchen held its grand opening on Sunday, April 7th. The restaurant offers a salad bar and dinner buffet, as well as a made-to-order menu. Fried chicken, meatloaf, country ham, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans and buttered corn are just a few of the items featured on the buffet. We offer a local food delivery service called “Pony Express” and ready-to-eat items from our “Rodeo Rations” coolers. We also carry RockinLeather boots and a variety of locally made items. Vandal said Sunday is a day of praise and worship.
“We want to live up to this town where people can come here and sit and chat, eat, socialize, or just have coffee and Jesus.”
Her future plans include offering private group tours with Greenbrier County history performances and slide shows.
“This is my retirement plan. I love this town, so I want to be proactive in trying to solve problems,” she said.
