On Thursday, a Wilson resident suffered burns to his hand in an accidental kitchen fire.
According to a report by Deputy Fire Chief James P. Campbell, Wilson Fire and Rescue was dispatched to 204 Brentwood Drive at 4:19 p.m.
Campbell said the initial fire alarm call was upgraded to a structure fire.
“When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a two-story brick single-family home with no visible fire or smoke from the outside,” Campbell said. “Upon entering the residence, firefighters found the fire to be largely extinguished prior to the arrival of firefighters. Firefighters located one injured person and immediately treated the patient until Wilson County EMS arrived on scene.” It has started.”
The victim was taken to Wilson Medical Center for evaluation, Campbell said.
“Crews did an overhaul and ventilated it,” Campbell said. “The fire has been extinguished to the area where it occurred. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.”
Five fire engines and 17 personnel were called to the scene. No firefighters were injured.
Campbell estimated property damage at $8,000 and loss of contents at $1,000.
According to Wilson County tax records, the damaged building is owned by George and Amy Pope.
