A local home goods store stocked with recycled glass, furniture and items from nonprofit organizations is now open for weekend shoppers.
Diggs recently leased a 1,200-square-foot store at 228 S. Tucson Blvd., south of Broadway.
From tables made from discarded doors to bottle scrubbers made from coconut shells and pot holders made from cork, owner Dawn Elliott has carefully selected inventory.
Indoor plants are the store's central theme, and she hopes to eventually add an outdoor plant area for shoppers.
Elliott, who frequents thrift stores, buys glassware he finds and creates rock-decorated plants.
She also pops up at flea markets and estate sales, and her husband, Patrick Trimarco, finds disposable jewelry among bulky piles of brush and transforms it into furniture.

The store also sources items from nonprofit organizations, and friends brought Elliott items from estate sales.
“My ideal customer is someone who wants to make their home feel comfortable and want to do something good,” Elliott said.
Already working full time, she wants to grow and expand her business hours. Diggs is currently open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
