Samsung's consumer electronics division has signed new deals to expand its footprint in the United States, one of the world's most lucrative markets for such products. The company has forged partnerships with real estate developers to supply appliances for new projects.
The Korean giant has now signed an agreement with Clayton Home Building Group, the largest single-family home builder in the United States. As part of this multi-year partnership, the company will supply built-in kitchen appliances.
Samsung's home appliances are expected to be installed in more new homes.
The long-term agreement will see Samsung's AI-enabled kitchen appliances used in Clayton's new home. Samsung's bespoke kitchen suites, equipped with a dishwasher, refrigerator, oven and microwave, will be installed in the builder's new homes. Samsung laundry appliances will also be offered as an optional upgrade to new homebuyers.
All home appliances that Samsung supplies to Clayton are Wi-Fi connected and can be integrated with Samsung's SmartThings platform. It is also certified as Energy Star by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, guaranteeing homeowners the energy efficiency of their appliances. Clayton Home Building Group is committed to ensuring energy efficiency in homes and has built more than 140,000 Energy Star certified homes since 2005.
This is the second similar agreement Samsung has signed this month for consumer applications in the United States. A deal with Flow was also announced earlier this month in which Samsung will provide SmartThings-enabled appliances for one of the company's latest projects, a 422-unit complex in Miami.
According to recent market data, Samsung continues to lead the US consumer electronics market, with a 21% share of total sales last year. These latest deals are expected to further increase Samsung's share of this lucrative market.
