The two companies released a joint statement in response to the sudden decision to close stores six months after the merger. However, many were left wondering why the grocery chain would close its operations. A newsletter by his Substack called Snaxshot said Outfox Hospitality, the combined business of Foxtrot and Dom's, is planning to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Additionally, a meeting was reportedly convened on Tuesday night to discuss the future of the company with employees. Specifically, the closures affect two Dom's stores and 33 Foxtrot stores in the state.
“It is with heavy hearts that we have to inform you of the difficult decision we have had to make. After much consideration and evaluation, we regret to announce that Foxtrot and Dom's Kitchen & Market will be closed on April 23, 2024. We are pleased to announce that we will be closing our doors as of today,'' a message to customers on the Dom's Kitchen and Foxtrot Market websites read. “We have explored many avenues to continue our operations, but despite our good faith and exhaustive efforts, we have not found a viable option.”
