This diary was inspired by strawbale's recent Peeps diary “PWB Kitties Love Bats”. I started watching some bat rescue videos from her diary. a lot It's on YouTube. Many are about Australian flying foxes. There is a woman out there who is prolific documenting her own rescues and I find her videos very calming during this time of 24/7 TFG. . (I'll beat him with a cute baby bat any day.) But I referenced an old bat in the title of this diary, and this is it.
Imagine having a caregiver who carries you around in a way that makes you feel like you're flying, just stopping for a fruit snack every once in a while. A gentle sponge bath every day!Wake up every day, hang out with your friends and have unlimited fun! Sound wonderful.
What's interesting about this fluttering feeling is that it's interesting to realize that what used to scare me is actually something kinder. Many years ago, I encountered a bat while living in Washington, DC. One crashed into the wall of my apartment and detonated. I saw my cat paw at this small black shape on the floor. Then he stood up and flew away. Yes, I cried. Yes, this was in my bedroom. I'm sure the little creature was as scared of me as I was of it. It took a while for my friend to find it and take it out the window.
Not long after that, I next went to the Department of the Interior's Indian Crafts Store (my favorite hangout at the time) and did you know that I saw a small Zuni bat sculpture? They had bats! Coincidence? Of course I bought it. I cherish this small sculpture. To me, it represents everything that is beneficial about bats, and it is also a lesson in recognizing and dealing with the fear within ourselves. If another bat were to fall into my house, I would like to think that I would be able to find a safe exit without screaming. But seriously, one indoor bat experience is enough for me. No need to repeat lessons.
Anyway, the bat rescue video… it's pretty cool and strangely soothing. I'll post one of her videos here, so if you're interested, you can follow this Australian woman. And you can change the conversation to anything you like.
I should say you can turn the conversation into anything. you Just like you might be late or absent from a party. I'm having eye surgery today so I'm sorry if I can't come until late!
The weekend begins. Come feel comfortable and share your day, weekend plans, and menu. This is an open thread.
