The gluten-free bakery and cafe opened Saturday with the help of a Kickstarter campaign that helped owner Leslie Lewis restart the business after its previous location on Brainerd Road didn't work out. It will open on ML King Blvd.
The new 1,000 square foot micro-bakery and restaurant, known as Carving Rock Kitchen, is located at 301 EML King Blvd. It is located on the site of the restaurant Peach Cobbler, which closed in January after two years of operation. Lewis said she will repaint the storefront and reopen Carving Rock Kitchen at 10 a.m. Saturday, offering gluten-free biscuits, cinnamon rolls, pretzels and other baked goods.
Carving Rock Kitchen first opened at 3950 Brainerd Road last September, and “when we opened, we had an overwhelming response,” Lewis said in an interview this week.
