I'm not a vegan, but I make it a point to visit every eatery in town, no matter who serves it.
No Ragrets – Vegan Scratch Kitchen has been on my list for quite some time and I finally got to stop by when it was parked at the Sedgwick County Extension.
The menu had burgers, po'boy sandwiches, meatball subs, quesadillas, and chickpea sandwiches.
I chose the McDaddy Cheeseburger, which has a plant-based patty, cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions, and mac sauce. For an additional $4, we added hand-cut fries.
The burger itself was delicious. But that's where I draw the line, and it's not that I blame the burgers, it's just because I'm a greasy and unhealthy burger lover. It's all based on my food preferences. I've eaten my fair share of plant-based patties and found them all to be similar and, in this case, dependent on additional dressings, such as macaroni sauce.
For the fries, I think they could have added a little more salt or another seasoning on top.
During my visit, local food blogger Fart the Foodie also joined me for a chickee sandwich.
In my opinion this was a much better product. The chicken sandwich had a soft texture, but the taste was the same as a fried chicken sandwich. I only had one bite, but I liked what my taste buds were enjoying.
