WLWT Live Radar for your morning commute. The hourly outlook changes as the rain eases and the Flying Pig event takes place later this week. And what's happening right now on WLWT News 5 today. Police are investigating dozens of car break-ins across our region. last month. See which neighborhoods are hardest hit and share the best ways to protect yourself. And the alleged murderer is now facing new charges in court after the violence behind bars was caught on camera. WLWT News Five's Richard Chiles joins us live ahead of the hearing scheduled for this morning. Today is WLWT News 5. Lead the way. Okay. A wall of rain flows through the Greater Cincinnati area this morning. It's right there. Thank you very much for your continued support. I'm Megan Mitchell and Kelly Rippin. I'm Stephen Albritton. We've been seeing this moving slowly on our radar all night. Meteorologist Randy Rico breaks down the timing and how it will affect your morning commute. Randy. Of course we would like to see this move, but it is moving slowly. That was the keyword yesterday, right? This one is creeping up on us. Finally, the strength increases overnight. We could go ahead and look at the broader picture, but basically we're looking at this division of 275 loops. Still heading east. So it's 5 o'clock this morning. It's been raining for a good portion of here in Cincinnati, so it's probably going to last another three hours or so. So plan for wet roads. And if you head out the door in the next few minutes, you're obviously going to have a pretty good descent, especially if you look south a little bit to the areas east of downtown. I wanted to show you how southern Grant County has experienced heavy rain with elevations above 75 degrees and is now bringing even more heavy rain. From Falmouth it enters part of Bracken County and crosses the river between Ripley and Georgetown. And then a little further east, we'll start to see some showers in Clermont-Brown and Highland counties, and then we'll see a trickle of rain along I-71 and I-275 into areas of Warren and Clinton counties. Some of our westernmost communities head towards Cleves and Addison with a short break. However, all areas east of downtown are experiencing showers. Let's plan today with the temperature in mind. We're in the 60's now, but we should be back in the 70's this afternoon. We'll talk about the possibility of more rain for the upcoming Flying Pig weekend in a few minutes, but let's talk about the update on Katie Donovan's wet morning. Hurry. That's right, many roads are very wet this morning, starting with 275 in Loveland, Madeira. It's raining a lot in this direction. Maybe these showers and Kyle's 7175 are a little foggy. It's looking pretty wet here in the north too, but the southbound lanes don't seem to be having much of an impact on traffic flow this morning. Most of these roads have some green, but here we're seeing more noticeable showers east of Highway 275. Therefore, I took this road when there could be traffic jams and possibly water on the road. A few hours ago, I was on my way to work. I'm definitely keeping an eye on it. The location is in northern Butler-Warren County. You seem to be feeling pretty good this morning, so thank you. Okay, Katie, thank you so much. Of course, we will check back with her to see what happened to her today. Detectives confessed to her murder, and she says she faces new charges for assaulting another inmate in the jail. Now we take a closer look at the raid. His Five's Richard Chiles, caught on camera and on the news, joins us live from the Kenton County Courthouse ahead of the scheduled hearing. Richard, good morning. good morning. The man is 37 years old. Timothy Delahanty is scheduled to be arraigned later this afternoon. Mr. Mr. Delahunty is currently being held in the Kenton County Jail on murder charges dating back to 2006. Delahunt again confessed to the murder. He has been in jail for the past four months. This attack takes place behind bars. Let's take a look at the surveillance video. Think again about relationships. Mr. In the video, Delahanty is seen attacking 33-year-old Jonathan Massengill in an outdoor area of the prison. Minutes later, prosecutors said Delahunty brutally attacked Massengill, knocking him unconscious. At this time, it is not yet clear what led to the attack or the condition of the prisoners. Now, earlier this year, Ellesmere Police announced that Delahanty had turned himself in to police and confessed to killing Paul Clayton. Well, the story goes back to 2006. Delahanty was previously sought as a suspect and is currently charged with the murder and is being held without bond. The case is now back in court, and arraignment on these new charges is scheduled for approximately 1:30 p.m. Mr. Delahunty again remained in the Kenton County Jail and reported live this morning. Richard Chiles WLWT News 5. Okay, Richard, thank you. Opening statements begin this morning in the trial of a man accused of causing an fatal school bus crash in a Dayton suburb. Herminio Joseph is charged with manslaughter and vehicular homicide. Police say he was driving in Springfield, Ohio, last fall when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a school bus. The accident killed 11-year-old Aiden Clark and left 22 other students hospitalized. The jury was seated yesterday. If convicted, Joseph could face up to 20 years in prison. In a development on WLWT, a Hamilton County teenager accused of being involved in four murders is pleading guilty. In court yesterday, 17-year-old McKim Thomas was sentenced to 31 to 36.5 years in prison. Thomas pleaded guilty to murder, felonious assault and robbery, as well as the firearms charge. Prosecutors claim the murders occurred within a four-month period between October 2020 and February 2021. Thomas was 14 years old at the time. 505A Warren County man faces new charges after allegedly dousing his girlfriend with gasoline before setting her home on fire. Investigators said 59-year-old Michael Burch put a gun to his head and refused to surrender to police. This happened in Hamilton Township in March. Officers eventually used a police dog to take him into custody. Yesterday, Birch was charged with multiple counts of aggravated arson and pleaded not guilty. 505 And what's happening now. A gun may have been at the center of more than 80 car break-ins in a particular Cincinnati suburb last month. This morning we are talking with victims and police about what to look out for and how to potentially keep your vehicle safe. WLWT NEWS FIVE's Daniel Dindak lives for us, lives for us and breaks it all down at Blue Ash Police Station. Daniel. good morning. Megan. The Blue Ash Police Department says he has had 84 cars vandalized in the past 30 days. But they also went on to say that the most troubling part of the case was that five guns were stolen. And now I'm out on the town. Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak with the police chief. He's really stressed out here. Don't leave weapons in your car. These guns are obviously sold on the street. Maybe Cincinnati, maybe some suburbs. And the videos I'm talking about are still not my physical possessions, like this one. This is 6:30 in the morning, and the people trying to break into the car already have weapons from previous break-ins. If the homeowner or the police showed up now, there would be an armed confrontation and something bad would happen. It's just a matter of time. The chief also said these thefts were likely related to calls from other nearby police departments, with hundreds of break-ins and 25 to 30 guns missing. Ta. Well, I also spoke to a man who lives in one of the Blue Ash apartment complexes that was targeted. He does not know that guns are of interest in connection with these thefts. can't believe it. This just goes to show how easy it is to access a gun, and in reality, you may never know there's a car next to you. As you know, there are weapons inside. Hmm, that's mind boggling to me. Now, I spoke to the gentleman and he also said he filed this police report. Now, this is just the first police report. Now let me explain in detail how he was actually targeted. 2 weeks in a row. Don't miss it.But we're reporting live here at Blue Ash Police Station.
