Whether your mom enjoys a cup of joe or a cup of tea, here's the perfect Mother's Day plan.
It's Jolly Good Tea Time!
My home is Canada, a former British Commonwealth country, so I grew up with Red Rose Orange Pekoe tea flowing through my veins. During my globe-trotting days, I visited places like Manhattan's luxurious Russian Tea Room, the swanky Plaza Hotel, and London's Radedar Goring Hotel, a hotel with plenty of royal luxury where the Middleton family camped out before their big day. patronized the iconic tea house. Of course, it's happening in our own city, too, like the Fairmont Grand Del Mar's Lobby Lounge or Point Loma's quirky Britannia Tearoom, which hosts a variety of themed events.
I recently attended the annual Sweetheart Tea Party at Encinitas Seacrest Village. There is an impressive display of antique teapots and other fine china, elaborately feathered hats, a skilled harpist playing popular melodies, and a lavish array of sweet and savory snacks. It was being done. If your mom is a tea lover like me, you can prepare an enchanting tea party to celebrate her special day. Cheerios!
Afternoon tea became a whim of the Victorian upper class, especially when socialite Anna, 7th Duchess of Bedford, started the trend of enjoying a cup of tea and a snack to stave off late afternoon hunger. permeated our culture through Women in their spare time referred to the event as “low tea'' or “afternoon tea,'' elegantly munching on delicious snacks placed on low side tables, while working-class people ate long, After a hard working day, I quickly adopted the habit and enjoyed a more substantial meal at the high dining table. The term “high tea” was born.
Today's tea parties embrace a hybrid flavor that blends the ceremonial pleasures of both high and low tea. The event includes an assortment of sweet and savory finger foods (and hearty ones), including bite-sized fruity scones with clotted cream and jam or lemon curd, twigs wrapped in a blanket and vegetarian sausages and asparagus. May include classic British dishes such as spears. Buttery puff pastry, elegant crustless sandwiches with smoked salmon and goat cheese, salads with watercress, cucumber, creamy eggs or coronation chicken, petite pastries, earl gray and lilac, strawberries and cream, blood oranges. Assorted macarons including rose and lavender shortbread fingers.
American afternoon tea includes turkey sliders, mixed mushroom flatbread, grilled cheese rounds with buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes, flat iron streaks of toasted sourdough points, domestic caviar blinis, mini salted caramel cheesecakes, and hummingbirds. Including cupcakes and more.
Now place your little finger in the correct position, lower the saucer, and place the cup against your lips. For a delicious sip, prepare a pot of mom's favorite beer, such as aromatic malty-flavored black tea or spicy chai, a blend of cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, peppercorns, and ginger. Darjeeling is called the “champagne of teas”. Delicate in color and with sweet musky undertones, the classic Earl Grey, a blend of Ceylon black tea and citrusy bergamot, the English Breakfast, a combination of Sri Lankan and Assamese black teas, the antioxidant-rich, jade-tinged green tea or the Japanese Ceremonial matcha, soothing jasmine, refreshing Moroccan mint, sleepy chamomile, refreshing ruby-tinged South African rooibos, delicate white tea, cheeky ginger, and notes of hibiscus, lavender, elderflower, and rose. fresh flowers. Or, when the fog rolls in, make London Fog (Earl Grey, milk, vanilla extract, sugar), Tokyo Fog (matcha instead of Earl Grey), Cape Town Fog (rooibos instead of Earl Grey), and Victoria. Masho Fog (replace Earl Gray with lavender tea).
mocha mama
If your mom is a coffee lover, here are the most welcoming spreads to complement this flavorful drink. Classic cinnamon sour cream coffee cake, buttery almond croissant, pecan sticky bun, bowl of fresh berries with a splash of Grand Marnier or her favorite liqueur, mini quiche with seasonal herbs and vegetables, chive cream From questionable bagels loaded with cheese, pepper-smoked salmon slices topped with baby arugula, mocha-hazelnut biscotti, preserved lemon upside-down cake, and a variety of sweet and savory crepes, anything chocolatey goes well with the coffee spot.
Up to the lips and above the gums. . .Choose your poison: high-octane espresso, cappuccino (espresso with steamed milk and milk foam), marocchino (espresso blended with chocolate and topped with milk foam), frappe (espresso with a dollop of milk foam on top) (with ice cream and steamed milk), Viennese coffee (espresso and whipped cream), Romano (espresso and lemon), Irish coffee (coffee, whipped cream, sugar, whisky), Café au lait (coffee and steamed milk) , and straight black coffee for the purists.
