“It was my first time coming in last place, and it was so bad that I was eliminated, so it definitely hit me hard,'' he said. Rasika Venkatesa When she entered the “Last Chance Kitchen”. She said, “I feel like my work on 'Top Chef' is not done yet.” What happened when she confronted Kevin D'Andrea Is there a chance to return to competition? Watch this week's episode of LCK, “Let's Play Ball,” above, or read on to find out what happened.
Rashika was one of the top contenders for this season's “Top Chef.” She won the Elimination Challenge twice, the Quick Fire Challenge once, and she didn't have a single low-scoring dish…she finished off the tasteless, slimy eggplant in “Chaos Cooking.” Until I eat it. However, with her strong track record up to that point, there is no doubt that she will be a formidable opponent in the LCK. Kevin was eliminated from the baseball-themed “Sausage Race” because he foolishly attempted risotto, one of her most difficult dishes on “Top Girlfriend Chef.” “I did 'Top Chef France' eight years ago. I really like to challenge myself, so I came to do 'Top Chef' for the second time,” he says. And indeed he did. But ironically his risotto was actually not bad. It's just that he didn't emphasize enough important sausage ingredients. This was definitely the best challenge of the season, with the judges having a hard time weeding out the worst dishes from all the good ones.
“Rasika, you didn't get to enjoy your day at the stadium,” says the host and judge Tom Colicchio When she and Kevin entered “LCK”. “Now, let's play ball.” This challenge is a sprint, even by “LCK” standards. Chefs are asked to make as many dishes as possible in 45 minutes, up to nine times (like nine innings). They offer them to Tom as soon as they are ready, and Tom scores them on a scale of 0 to 4. The chef with the most points wins.
Rashika has more ambitious plans. She wants to cook a 5-course Indian meal within the allotted time. Kevin sets a modest goal of three dishes. However, by the end of the time limit, it was Kevin who ended up serving the most 5-on-4 dishes. Does that mean he was able to earn enough points to defeat Rashika? After all, it's not just the quantity that matters, but also the quality.
In the end, Rasika served Tom Rice Payasam, Berber Eggplant, Rice and Lentils with Roasted Potato Curry, and finally Sea Bass, earning a total of 6 points. Kevin offers roasted lamb, scallops with butternut purée, poirot vinaigrette and chive and parsley salad, charred butter lettuce and salmon, and a final touch of smoked salmon with dill cream. His score: 8 points. That's how Kevin scored a huge upset victory over one of this season's heavyweights. But, of course, it will still be some time before he returns to the main kitchen of “Top Chef”.
“I got struck out. I'm disappointed. I'm upset,” Rashika said in her final exit interview. “I got kicked off 'Top Chef' because of one bad dish. That's what makes it so cruel. But at the same time, I'm going out in great shape. I'm I made my own food, and that's what I wanted to do. I'm proud of it.”
“I'm the king of the kitchen now!” Kevin celebrates. “It feels good. I came home with a 'Top Chef' jacket.” It's a good start, but it's not the end. “Last Chance Kitchen'' is a long journey. I'm going to achieve it, and I'm going to work hard to achieve it. ”
