Construction on the second Parker's Kitchen in North Augusta is likely to begin in July, a timeline the company's real estate development manager, Daniel Ben-Israel, announced Wednesday night.
Parker's Kitchen, planned for the intersection of Edgefield Road and Askauga Lake Road at Exit 5, will be the second location in North Augusta, with construction taking place at the first location six miles south on Jefferson Davis Highway. is steadily progressing.
“We're really excited about expanding in this market,” Ben-Israel said.
Drayton Parker Companies purchased the 14-acre property on Edgefield Road in March for $2.9 million, according to property records.
The 5,100-square-foot convenience store and its 22 filling stations will take up less than half of the site, but the site plan approved this week by the North Augusta Planning Commission shows two parcels and one is just under 3 acres, and the other is about 4.7 acres. That could mean additional development later on.
Like its other stores, Edgefield Road Parker's will feature a full-service kitchen serving typical convenience store items as well as Southern comfort foods such as fried okra, macaroni and cheese, and fried chicken. In addition to the usual takeout lunch items.
The Savannah-based company is in expansion mode.
Ben-Israel said Parker's is currently building 15 different projects in South Carolina and Georgia and intends to open 25 new stores in each over the next five years. Parker's, which recently opened in this market, opened in Aiken in March.
