Canadian kitchen and bath designer Hinge Cabinets & Millwork recently announced another storage solution that's splitting the internet. Hide your spice rack behind your kitchen backsplash with a secret sliding door.
“Hidden features” [keep] Cooking is exciting,” the company wrote in a recent Instagram post highlighting the feature. “Keep spices and oils out of sight and close by when you need them.”
Hinge's spice rack hack received an even bigger platform when the Instagram video was reposted by the account Zillow Gone Wild (@zillowgonewild). “I never knew a hidden spice rack was an option, but here we are,” added one.
Since Zillow Gone Wild shared a tweet On August 15th, it received over 11,700 likes and over 1.7 million views, with many opinions from social media users.
One user replied, “No matter what the price is for that house, it's worth it.”
“That would spice up my life!” joked another.
But some were wary of the concept, citing fire risks and economic concerns.
One commenter on Twitter pointed out, “It's a little too close to the stove and space heater, but it's nice to have it hidden and easily accessible,” while another argued: ”
Shorter users were hesitant to take the plunge, thinking they might have to make some changes to install an easily accessible hidden rack.
Another commenter joked: “I love it. But I'm short so I'll have to put it by the wall.”
But one central question remains. Will future homeowners be surprised when they stumble across this rack?
One user said: “Now I have to walk around the house looking for hidden compartments that I might not even be aware of.”
