On May 11, Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker gave the commencement speech to Benedictine College graduates. In a speech at a private Catholic liberal arts college in Kansas, he suggested Pride Month was a “mortal sin,” denounced abortion rights and told women they had been told “the most diabolical lie.” (after quoting Taylor Swift, who of course sang it at the beginning of his speech).
He went on to talk about his wife Isabelle, claiming that she was the first to tell him that her life “really began when she began to fulfill her duties as a wife and mother,” and that he believed she was his own. He said he was able to become the person he wanted to be. That's because his wife had accepted one of the most important titles: housewife.
Harrison's speech not only drew a direct response from the NFL, which said his views were not those of the NFL as an organization, but also sparked widespread backlash from people across the country. But while many expressed their distaste for the commencement address on their personal social media accounts, the women took to the Kansas City Chiefs' Instagram account directly to comment on their “femininity.” People are starting to leave sarcastic comments. Brutal in the best possible way.
