The 90th Annual Drama League Awards were held on May 17 at a luncheon in the Ziegfeld Ballroom, hosted by Frank DiLella.
Seven competitive awards were presented at the awards ceremony. The winner of the Excellence Award was appropriatewith sarah paulson appropriate It itself won the Outstanding Revival of a Play award.
stereo sound The film won the Outstanding Dramatic Production Award, and its director, Daniel Orkin, also won the Outstanding Dramatic Direction Award.
hell's kitchen Awarded Best Musical. The winner of the Best Musical Revival Award was Merrily We Roll Along” director Maria Friedman also won Best Musical Direction.
Four special honors were also awarded. Jonathan Groff received the Musical Theater Achievement Award. Jessica Lange receives the Theater Contribution Award. Cher Williams won the Founders Award for Outstanding Director. Kandi Burruss received her Appreciation Award in recognition of her leadership as a producer and performer and her contributions to the theater industry.
The Drama League also recognized the exemplary work of three previous Outstanding Performance Award winners who appeared in eligible Broadway or Off-Broadway productions this season. Uncle VanyaBebe Neuwirth cabaret and Liev Schreiber Doubt: Parable. A performer can only receive this award once in a lifetime.
