The other day, I went to hot dog heaven at Salisbury House. We visited Sal's on Leila Avenue to sample the six custom dogs currently on the menu. The Swing Into Spring lineup is available at all Salisbury House locations and features the best Ballpark His hot dogs from cities like Chicago, New York, Kansas City, Montreal and Detroit. They're all great, but my personal favorite is Winnipeg. This is a true classic with a hearty beef-only hot dog, grilled onions, and sals sauce. So simple but so delicious! And at less than $10, it's a great deal. Every dog sold will donate a loonie to a Manitoba charity through the Sals Pay It Forward program. The program has raised more than $235,000 since its inception. Customers will also receive a ballot to win a suite for up to 20 people at an upcoming Winnipeg Goldeyes game.

Congratulations to three Winnipeg restaurants on being named to the annual list of Canada's 100 Best Restaurants. This year, Dear + Almond (39 years old), Clementine (74 years old), and Yujiro (92 years old) all participated. Incidentally, Deer + Almond, at No. 39, is the highest finish ever for a local restaurant on this list. Canada's 50 Best Bars have also been announced, with The Roost coming in at number 39.
Pizza Week Winner
It has finally been officially announced. Pasquale's is Winnipeg's winner of his Le Pizza Week. Congratulations to owner Joe Loschiavo and his team at 109 Marion Street. Burrata alla Pistachio is just Pasquale's latest winning pie. Joe has won many times over the years, and we'll be featuring them all over the summer.
Krispy Kreme collaboration
When Krispy Kreme finally opens in Tuxedo, you might be able to try out a new collaboration between the donut chain and country star Dolly Parton. They collaborated to create the Dolly His Southern Sweets donut collection. The four donuts are infused with Southern flavors like peach cobbler and banana he pudding.

jazz up salad
A new study has revealed some strange ways people jazz up their salads. The most popular salad toppings are cheese (42%), tomato (37%), and bacon (30%). The more unusual ones are bananas, meatballs, marshmallows, and peanut butter.
tacos are sandwiches
The judge ruled that tacos and burritos are sandwiches. A Mexican restaurant in Fort Wayne, Indiana has been given permission to open inside a mall where only Subway-style sandwiches are allowed. The judge said tacos qualify as sandwiches, clearing the way for the store to open.
Pickle DR. Pepper
A food mashup that's been trending lately is Dr. Pepper and pickles. It may not become as popular as pizza pineapple, mint and lamb, or chicken and waffles. New Chewy Tic Tacs are coming this fall. Starting in September, fans can try the Fruit or Sour Adventure variety. The texture will be crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside.
