ANDERSON, Ind. — An Anderson woman is accused of throwing a glass bowl at her daughter and accidentally hitting her grandson.
Ella T. Gary, 44, is charged with domestic assault of a person under 14 years of age and menacing, both Level 5 felonies.
According to court documents, police were called to Anderson's home on May 14 for a report of a domestic disturbance.
The victim told police that her mother, Gary, not only threw a glass bowl hitting her child in the back, but also brandished a kitchen knife and threatened to kill her.
Both the victim and a witness at the home said Gary, brandishing a knife, told his daughter he was tired of her and her children.
The victim reportedly asked her mother, “What are you trying to do?” Kill the children or kill me? ”
Witnesses and victims told police Gary responded, “I'm not trying to kill your children. I'm trying to kill you.”
Police spoke to Gary, who denied throwing the bowl at his daughter. She knocked a glass bowl off a dresser and she claimed it accidentally hit her child.
Gary admitted to holding two knives while talking to his daughter, but denied threatening her daughter's life.
A fight between mother and daughter reportedly broke out over her daughter's request for Gary to babysit her child, forcing Gary to cancel the appointment.
Police said the child showed no obvious signs of trauma and the child's mother refused all medical services.
