A 73-year-old British passenger died on Tuesday when a Singapore Airlines flight from London encountered extreme turbulence and was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand.
British media identified the deceased passenger as Jeff Kitchen.
He was reportedly on vacation with his wife. His wife was one of the passengers taken to a hospital in Bangkok.
Bangkok airport officials said the elderly man may have suffered a heart attack, but there was no confirmation.
Kitchen previously worked in the insurance industry and is said to have continued to be involved in amateur theater after retiring.
The Thornbury Musical Theater Group, of which he was a member, said he was “always a gentleman of the utmost honesty and integrity, and always did what was right for the group”.
