Augusta's first Parker's Kitchen officially opened on Wednesday, but there's plenty of provenance to come.
The new 24-hour convenience store and filling station focuses on freshly prepared foods and is located at 3661 Mike Padgett Highway at the intersection of Mike Padgett and Tobacco Road. Just off Exit 9 of Interstate 520.
“Parker's Kitchen's entire menu is handcrafted on-site using fresh ingredients by local chefs who take pride in cooking for the communities in which they live and work,” the company said in a statement Tuesday. “
The Savannah-based company operates 87 retail stores in Georgia and South Carolina and plans to double its store count across the Southeast over the next four years, Parkers said.
Three for the show: Plans could include three convenience stores at busy Columbia County intersections.
Another Parker's Kitchen is nearing completion at 5747 Jefferson Davis Highway. The North Augusta theater is scheduled to open June 12.
In 2023, Parker's approached Columbia County officials to build Parker's Kitchen at the entrance to Riverwood Plantation. Daniel Ben-Israel, real estate manager for Parker's Kitchen, told commissioners at the time that the company wanted to build 15 to 20 stores in the Augusta area “over the next five to six years.”
As a new entrant to the industry, each Parkers store provides 25 to 30 jobs for local residents and employs 75 to 85 contractors to build each new store in the Augusta metropolitan area, according to the company.
