“LCK” host Tom Colicchio The “Top Chef” host joins Kristen Kishwon the “LCK” in Season 10 before winning the main event and was a “Top Chef” All-Star Mei Linwon season 12 of the cooking competition series. Together they decide who will return to the show. Let's start with a recap. The three chefs had 30 minutes to all The ingredients and recipes for this season's Quickfire Challenge have been everything so far: hops, cherries, cranberries, sauces, dairy, meat raffles and flambés. Amanda will make a smoked Wagyu ribeye. Laura will cook Wagyu kebabs with baba ghanoush. Those are enough to beat Sue's Thanksgiving-style Chateaubriand, served with a brioche puree that has a paste-like texture.
“This sucks,” Sue lamented in her final exit interview. “I feel like I have so much more to show, but this is it. It's been crazy. It's been fun. I think this experience on Top Chef has helped me find who I am as a chef, and I can't wait to continue this journey.”
Then comes the second round, which is arguably even harder. Laura and Amanda are told to cook anything they want. What seems like an advantage comes with a major drawback. As Laura says, “I'm the type of chef who cooks really well with a frame around me.” Restrictions are often a good thing for creative types; it helps you edit yourself and narrow down the endless possibilities in your head, especially if you only have 30 minutes. It's also an emotional challenge for Laura and Amanda. Having started the season together and been eliminated together, “it's fate, it's destined to be that way,” says Sue, who joined the other eliminated chefs. Kevin D'Andrea and Rasika Venkatesa As a spectator.
The two remaining chefs each take a different approach to the final “LCK” challenge. Amanda wants to show her ambition by trying a new dish: gnocchi, which can be made in just 30 minutes. Lola will rely on familiar fare: the vegetable-based dishes she serves at her own restaurant. Unfortunately, Amanda's ploy doesn't work. Kristen calls her dish “rich, homey and delicious” but “messy,” while Lola's vegetables have a good balance of flavors in her mouth. “Honestly, it was a lot of fun,” says Amanda as she says her final farewell to the show. “I feel like I made the tastiest dish I've ever made in this competition. I'm really happy to have a second chance. I'm really proud of myself.”
“It's just the beginning,” Kristen tells Laura about her impending return to the main draw, “I've had great success here, but I also have to understand there's a tough road ahead, so I just have to keep working hard to get back to the main draw.”
“I can't wait to compete again,” Laura concludes. “My husband told me, 'You have to win,' and he is my biggest inspiration in life. I'm very proud of my work and all the hard work I put in. At the same time, I'm very honored to be a part of this 'Last Chance Kitchen'. I'm very excited and I'm more than ready to compete again and win 'Top Chef.' I can do it, so let's do it.”
