Demi Moore has been in the news lately for her role in an upcoming horror movie. EssenceBut when it comes to the actress' interior spaces, she prefers tranquil environments — in fact, her kitchen is more of a cottage, a far cry from the horrors that await in the film.
of G.I. Jane and A Few Good Men The star shared a photo of her country-chic breakfast nook on her Instagram page, and with spring in full swing, we can't help but love how her floral booths and wooden furniture exude a cozy and inviting vibe, tapping into the café nook trend while also reminding us just how effortless this style can be.
Natural elements and florals are design staples (especially trends like cottagecore) that will carry indoors well beyond spring, and combining these vibrant patterns with natural wood materials creates a very earthy feel, a technique that designers say is a mood-boosting addition.
“Incorporating floral patterns into your kitchen, especially your breakfast nook, brings freshness and vibrancy,” says designer Nina Lichtenstein. “Floral patterns epitomize rustic elegance and cozy charm.”
Lichtenstein points out that one of the reasons Moore's kitchen is so aesthetically pleasing is that the woodwork on the bench and table matches the flooring, creating a seamless look that's beautifully broken up by the floral seat cushions.
“Just like Demi Moore's nook, pairing florals with natural wood creates a unified, balanced look,” she says. “Choose a floral pattern that coordinates with the color of your woodwork.”
To maintain visual interest, Lichtenstein suggests incorporating other materials into the mix, even if they're neutral colors.
“Pairing floral cushions with textured fabrics like linen or burlap will add depth and interest,” she says. “This layered effect adds to the rustic charm and makes the space feel more dynamic.”
This can be implemented using woven placemats and linen tablecloths.
Finally, Lichtenstein says you shouldn't overdo it with floral decor in your kitchen.
“In a space where functionality is key, like a kitchen, florals are best used sparingly,” she recommends. “Some well-placed cushions and a floral table runner can add just the right amount of appeal without feeling overwhelming.”
With that in mind, we've collected some floral kitchen décor items below.
