An inquest heard the five-year-old boy died after falling from the kitchen window of his home on the 15th floor of a high-rise building in east London.
Aalim Ahmed landed on the bottom fence of a housing estate in Plaistow.
Aalim's body was identified by his family and the cause of death was said to be multiple traumatic injuries from a “fall from a great height.”
Walthamstow Coroner's Court heard on Friday that the boy died instantly and his father discovered his body just before 6am on May 16.
Residents called emergency services after hearing a man's “distressed” screams.
Paramedics arrived at the scene outside Jacobs House in New City Road at 6.04am, with police arriving three minutes later.
Assistant Coroner Ian Wade KC said he would launch a “post-mortem investigation” as he was “satisfied that Ahmed's death was not natural”.
The boy, previously named locally as Aalim Makial Jibril, has raised just over £1,000 on GoFundMe to cover funeral costs.

Flowers were left at the scene and Newham Council is investigating the situation.
“We are conducting a thorough investigation to understand as fully as possible what happened and will fully support any other investigations,” the council's chief executive, Abi Gbago, said in a statement.
“We will provide an update as soon as possible once all relevant facts have been determined and our investigation has concluded.”
Caroline Stone, headteacher at New City Primary School in Plaistow, said in the school's weekly newsletter: “As many of you know, Aalim was involved in a tragic accident yesterday and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”
