CHICAGO — Fans are getting their first glimpse at “The Bear” Season 3 in a 30-second clip released by FX on Friday afternoon.
Jeremy Allen White's Chicago chef Carmy Belzatto appears to have escaped the freezer he was trapped in in the Season 2 finale, but the kitchen remains in chaos.
In the clip, Richie Jerimovich (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) opens The Bear, a fine-dining restaurant that Carmie has long dreamed of opening to replace his late brother's The Original Beef of Chicagoland.
Carmy's right-hand man, Sydney Adam (Ayo Edebiri), calls for orders from the new menu: “Goodbye beef sandwiches, how about some beef wagyu?”
Mirepoix soup, cauliflower/Swiss chard, haval cheese/grapefruit, duck/apricot, ravioli/peas/pecorino cheese and cavatelli also seem to be offered on the upscale Bear menu, a far cry from the Italian beef sandwich.
But just like the first two seasons, in which Carmy and company struggled to keep their family-owned sandwich shop open, tensions are running high (and the music reflects that anxiety).
“It's a dysfunctional kitchen,” Sydney says.
“Show us something that works,” Carmie and Richie replied in unison.
The trailer also sees Richie talking about being “trained” in his new role as frontman, with the two “cousins” also appearing to be at odds.
The Emmy Award-winning show will return with 10 episodes on Hulu on June 27, FX announced earlier this month.
Last season, viewers of “The Bear” followed Carmie, Sydney, Richie and their friends over the course of several months as they transformed a Chicago Italian beef stand into a fine dining restaurant.
The cast also includes Lionel Boyce, Matty Matheson, Liza Colon Zayas and Abbie Elliott.
Season 2 introduced Jamie Lee Curtis as Carmie's mother, Donna Belzatto, along with a host of cameos from Jon Bernthal as Carmie's brother, Bob Odenkirk, John Mulaney, Sarah Paulson, Olivia Colman, Will Poulter, Gillian Jacobs, Sarah Ramos, Joel McHale, Alex Moffat, and more. Local Bear fans may also recognize Chicago restaurateur and One Off Hospitality star Donny Madea, who plays himself.
There is still no word on any special guests or cameos in season three.
A fourth season has not been confirmed by FX, but there is speculation that “The Bear” is filming two seasons back-to-back to streamline production. Cast members were recently spotted out and about in Chicago, sparking rumors of a “secret” renewal.
