Cavatelli Pasta Kitchen, located at 175 S. Nova Road, Suite 1 in Ormond Beach, suddenly closed earlier this month after only opening in early February.
Concerned customers took to social media to express their confusion after a sign was posted on the restaurant's front door reading: “Sorry we're closed. Thank you.”
“Does anyone know what happened to Cavatelli Pasta Kitchen on Granada and Nova?” one user posted in a local Facebook group. “I just saw it posted on Facebook… the page is gone, the website is unavailable and the restaurant has a closed sign up!”
“Amazing! I love this place,” commented another. “The sauce is amazing. I eat here at least once a week. Had a sit-in meal last week.”
Cavatelli Pasta Kitchen is listed as “closed” on Google and its website and social media pages are no longer available. Owner Phil Martin confirmed the closure in a text message to The News Journal Thursday afternoon, saying, “We love Ormond Beach and are sad to be leaving.”

What is Cavatelli Pasta Kitchen?
Cavatelli Pasta Kitchen opened earlier this year as a fast-casual Italian-American restaurant boasting fresh, homemade pasta, meatballs, sauces, etc. The restaurant offered “Panera-style” quick counter service but recently transitioned to a full-service restaurant just a few weeks before closing.
“I think the future of smaller, independent restaurants will be those that can serve exceptional quality food but also be more practical and maybe offer a more limited service environment,” Martin previously told The News Journal. “So our goal at Cavatelli's is to bridge the gap between fast-casual and limited service restaurants, but serve high-quality food. I often say my goal is to be the Chipotle of pasta.”
Located in the Nova Shops Plaza on South Nova Road in Ormond, the restaurant serves up pasta plates piled high with housemade sauces, assorted pastas, meats and cheeses, as well as an assortment of paninis, salads and locally sourced desserts.
