If you've ever cooked from a recipe in a cookbook, you know all too well how annoying it can be to have the page you need open and in easy view. Whether it's getting food-stained fingers all over the pages or struggling to keep a new book open that has the recipe you need, there's a good reason why a nifty little invention called a cookbook stand was invented.
But what if you don't have that equipment or the space on your counter? Maybe members of popular cooking groups have the perfect solution, and the best part is, you probably already have the items you need for the hack at home.
Home chefs have shared their workaround online, posting photos of cookbooks hanging above their kitchen counters using metal clip hangers, the sort you'd typically use for pants or skirts. The great thing about this hack is that it keeps the cookbooks at eye level, unlike traditional cookbook stands that force you to look down to see them.
The clip also keeps the pages open exactly where you need them, eliminating the risk of food stains on your book if you turn the recipe pages with flour, sugar, or oil on your hands.

The post received a lot of praise, with members of the group expressing their intention to try the trick for themselves.
“Despite all my best efforts, my books have gotten soaked over the last two nights. I said I needed a stand and this is great but I don't have one yet,” one person wrote.
“This is amazing!!” commented another, while another added: “Wow this is amazing, thanks for sharing.”
“Genius,” wrote another.
“Oh, this is amazing! My kitchen is the smallest in the universe!” said another home cook.
“This is great, maybe we could use a plate stand,” suggested another.
Others called the hack “brilliant,” “nifty” and “clever.”

In the comments section, the original poster explained that the genius idea wasn't theirs, writing, “It was another woman's idea. I tried it and it was amazing! The recipe was easy for me and my 6 year old to follow and we had so much fun! The whole family loved the recipe. There was no small print on the page.”
Next time you're trying to follow a recipe and create a culinary masterpiece, take a look at your wardrobe first.
