Renowned kitchen designer Jonny Gray has officially launched his new 'Unfitted Kitchen' range with a launch party held at Kitchens Etc in Norfolk.
Gray held a formal ribbon cutting at the Kitchens Etc showroom on May 23, officially declaring the Unfitted Kitchen exhibit open.
The newly launched Unfitted Kitchens is a range of free-standing kitchen furniture based on a concept first developed by Gray for Smallbone in the 1980s. The kitchens feature handcrafted, function-driven furniture that is both flexible and attractive.
Describing the concept as “a kitchen like no other”, Gray says Unfitted Kitchen “feels like the start of a new chapter in kitchen design”.
The model on display in the Kitchens Etc showroom is said to feature an invisible induction cooktop, a copper Roroshetta “Silent” Luna Sense Island extractor, a Quooker boiling water tap, also made from copper, a Fisher & Paykel integrated dishwasher and a Liebherr built-in refrigerator.
The launch event was attended by architects, designers, developers and the showroom's retail clients, and was entertained by harpist Zoe Anderton.
Natalie Peters, designer and managing director of Kitchens Etc, said she had been enthusiastic about Amphitheatre Kitchens since she first discussed the concept with Gray in 2022 and “decided then and there to become the UK's first curator”.
She continued: “We absolutely loved the concept and it made perfect sense. It's new and exciting and pairs beautifully with our bespoke, handcrafted furniture, which was heavily influenced by Jonny.”
“Both of our front window displays are dedicated to Unfitted Kitchen and have resulted in increased foot traffic. We feel this has taken our studio to the next level.”
Kbbreview recently spoke to Gray about the planned launch of Amphitaire Kitchens in the December 2023 issue of kbbreview magazine. At the time, he said the plan was to have around 10 Amphitaire Kitchen retail outlets in the UK.
