Whether you buy it for yourself, receive a treasured family heirloom, or receive it as a gift from someone who clearly loves you dearly, it's always a treat to have a Le Creuset product. For many, it's a symbol of high quality and a sign that the person using it probably knows what they're doing (at least in most cases, I think). Since 1925, this French cookware company has been designing the most vibrant, durable, and functional products on the market. Today, you can find Le Creuset products everywhere, from Michelin-starred restaurants to your friend's kitchen, where dinner feels like an episode of a TV show. Minced.
I am pretty blessed when it comes to Le Creuset cookware. I have accumulated quite a few pieces, including some I purchased myself, my fiancé's collection, and some wonderful pieces my grandmother gave me over the years. Most of it gets reused frequently, but there are a few pieces I just love looking at and using. Sure, there are some iconic pieces of cookware on my favorite Le Creuset products list, but there are also some unexpected items that just make my life better just by having them in my kitchen and home. Narrowing down this list wasn't easy, but here are my favorite Le Creuset products that I own.
My 5 Favorite Le Creuset Items
Classic 3-Piece Oval Baking Dish Set
I love the versatility of these dishes. Sure, I can bake casseroles, gratins, and lasagnas, but they've also secretly become one of my most powerful serving dishes. For some reason, potato salad looks beautiful in these dishes, as does the spinach, artichoke, and white bean dip that I like to make for guests. The set includes 1.2-quart, 1.9-quart, and 3.6-quart stoneware dishes, so you can have multiple dishes in the oven and on the table and they'll all look uniformly presentable.
Cookware Pot
One of the great things about Le Creuset is that you don't have to be cooking coq au vin or anything to appreciate its beauty. For example, one of the first purchases I made for my current apartment was this simple “oyster” colored cookware crock. It blends in with the kitchen but elegantly elevates the counter every day. Guests may not notice, but every couple days I say, “Wow, look at this Le Creuset!” It's amazing. The crock also holds a ton of spatulas, wooden spoons, and microplanes.
Silicone Coaster Set
The original Le Creuset coaster set I purchased is no longer available, which is a shame (and not just because it makes me feel so old to think that something I bought new is now considered vintage), but I recently purchased this new set of silicone coasters for the office, which I love just as much. They're super easy to clean, and look great on the table whether you're using them to hold your coffee, keep your Negroni from getting soggy, or to keep less-than-hot dishes from being placed directly on the tablecloth (heat resistant to about 480°F).
Round Dutch Oven
Le Creuset's round Dutch oven is one of the company's most iconic products, and for good reason. This 5.5 quart (7.25 quart also available) enameled cast iron pot is easy to cook in, easy to clean, and comes in over 24 vibrant color options, so it always looks great. It's perfect for gumbo, chili, tortilla soup, or anything you'd call a Dutch oven for. It's perfect for everything from bolognese to collard greens. No matter what angle you look at it from, this is without a doubt one of the most beautiful pieces of cookware ever made.
Signature Square Skillet Grill
I absolutely love grilling outdoors, but sometimes I just want to get out into the backyard and add some smoky, charred flavor without having to fire up the grill. For those meals, which usually happen on lazy summer nights or bitterly cold Chicago winter nights, a square skillet grill is just not the way to go. Whether it's grilled veggie tacos, a hot dog party, or burger night, this enameled masterpiece is always up to the challenge.
