Aaron's Kissena Farm in Kew Gardens Hills remains closed after a small kitchen fire broke out on Monday afternoon.
The FDNY arrived on scene at 72-15 Kissena Blvd. just before 3 p.m. and quickly put the blaze out, with no reports of injuries, but the fire affected the kosher supermarket's electrical system.
In a message to regulars, the team at Aaron's said they had hoped to reopen in time for Shavuot eve shopping, but the damage was far greater than initially expected.
“The power outage that occurred on Shabbat affected our refrigeration systems and caused the loss of a large amount of fresh produce,” the Aaron's team posted on social media. “We will continue to work tirelessly to get our stores up and running again to meet our customers' needs.”
The supermarket remained closed on Wednesday, with the recording saying teams were working around the clock to reopen the store as soon as possible.
“We are so touched and grateful for the overwhelming support we've received from our community during this incredibly challenging time,” Aarons posted on social media, “and look forward to reopening soon to once again serving our great Greater Queens community.”
