Broadway celebrated its best on Sunday night, with David Azimi's “Stereophonic” winning five Tony Awards, including best play, and “The Outsiders” taking home four trophies, including a surprise win for best musical.
Jonathan Groff won best actor in a musical, while his co-star Daniel Radcliffe won best supporting actor for “Merrily We Roll Along,” which won four awards in total, including best revival of a musical. Alicia Keys' musicals “Hell's Kitchen” and “Stereophonic” led the way at the ceremony with 13 nominations each, joining a star-studded roster of nominees that includes Eddie Redmayne from “Kit Kat Klub Cabaret,” Jessica Lange and Jim Parsons from “Mother Play,” Rachel McAdams from “Mary Jane,” Leslie Odom Jr. from “Pearly Victorious,” and Sarah Paulson and Corey Stoll from “Appropriate.” The ceremony is available to stream on demand.
