WILKES-BARRE, Luzerne County (WBRE/WYOU) — During hot weather, many people work outdoors, but people who work indoors also feel the heat.
A local pizza place in Luzerne County is doing the best it can to cope with the heat both outside and inside its doors.
Workers are really heating up in the kitchen at Angelo's Pizzeria in Wilkes-Barre.
As we work hard to fulfill order after order, temperatures are rising both outdoors and indoors.
When one pizza goes in, another comes out.
At Angelo's Pizzeria in Wilkes-Barre, three hot ovens are the lifeblood of the business, and at more than 500 degrees inside, they're a sizzling mess.
“We're not just cooking pizza. We're sweating,” said Jacob Ciborski, an employee at Angelo's Pizzeria.
As a heat wave sweeps across Pennsylvania, pizza workers are working with their backs to the ovens all day.
“Oh, this is how we're used to working. We run three ovens at 550 degrees like this all summer long,” said Jason Porter, manager of Angelo's Pizzeria.
The thermostat in the back kitchen reads nearly 100 degrees.

The phone never stops ringing, even when temperatures exceed 90 degrees.
“Business doesn't stop,” Porter said.
“I'm thankful these guys are here and working in those hot ovens so I don't have to cook,” said Janal Engle of Wilkes-Barre.
Porter told 28/22 News that they sell hundreds of pizzas a week, but on hot days like this, he wants to encourage everyone to have a little more patience and remind them that they're doing their best.
“We're doing our best to fulfill orders to keep everyone happy, so please give us a little time. The pizzas are hot and fresh,” Porter explained.
“It's the same with everything: the heat, the holiday lines, we just have to be patient and kind to everybody,” Engle said.
With demand constantly high, finding some relief by staying cool and hydrated has become a top priority.
“It's hotter in here than it is outside, so it's not as bad, but it's enough to make you feel the heat,” said Jacob Ciborski, an employee at Angelo's Pizzeria.
Angelo's Pizzeria is open Thursday from 3pm to 10pm, Friday from 10am to 10pm, and weekends from 3pm to 10pm.
