It's hard to predict what will happen if Taylor Swift invites you to dinner. For starters, it will probably be to the $50 million loft in TriBeCa recently home to Sophie Turner and Travis Kelcy. It might also result in a major fire, as happened when Swift hosted 24-year-old musician Gracie Abrams for a very Taylor Swift-esque get-together that nearly ended in disaster.
in Billboard In the interview, Abrams, who will open for Swift at the 2023 Ellas concert, Later on the tour, Swift revealed that she and Swift had co-written one of the songs for Abrams' upcoming second album six months earlier during a drunken dinner and writing session at Abrams' TriBeCa home. At one point (the timeline is extremely hazy here), they heard the sound of “one of her cats thrashing about.” Later that night, or later in the morning (again, it's unclear when, but they'd already finished writing the collaborative song), they discovered that the sound was actually a cat named Swift. A candle had knocked over, setting Swift's kitchen island on fire. According to Abrams, Swift grabbed a fire extinguisher and said, “I don't know how she knew what to do, at this time of night, in this state,” and put out the flames, which Abrams, of course, recorded on video. For this reason, Abrams considers her a “legend.”
The fire was apparently extinguished around 6 a.m., but Abrams said she and Swift “The fumes from the fire extinguisher left me coughing terribly for weeks.” At least the tour wasn't ruined.
