GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Less than a year after closing, a brewery on Grand Rapids' west side is reopening with a revamped concept.
Broadleaf Brewery & Spirits Closed Westside location It opened earlier this year on Bridge Street near Seward Avenue. At the time, the brewery's CEO told News 8: We need to double our business To stay open.
“We're trying not to beat ourselves up too much about it,” Broadleaf CEO Jason Spaulding previously told News 8. “It's hard. You can't be successful at everything. Sometimes you don't meet expectations. We tried some things and it didn't work.”
The Kentwood store remains open. Two new pickleball courts And the “Kickpin” game.
But Broadleaf said in an announcement Tuesday that it will reopen its West Side location on Thursday, and instead of running its own kitchen, it will partner with Downtown Market's Incubator Kitchen program to set up a rotating incubator kitchen.
“Grand Rapids has an incredibly vibrant culinary scene and we wanted to create a platform to support and showcase up-and-coming local chefs,” co-owner Chris Spaulding said in a release. “Incubator Kitchen will offer our guests a variety of fresh and exciting culinary choices, ensuring a new experience every time they visit Broadleaf Westside.”
The incubator kitchen will begin serving meals from July 11th. Hot Box Tacos. ManduServes traditional Korean dumplings, Yin and Yangserving Cambodian-Vietnamese fusion cuisine, is also due to open this summer.
Broad Leaf will also begin serving “over-the-top milkshakes” with its new Shake Party concept and will once again feature an arcade.
“We have something for everyone to enjoy on those nights when people want something to do in Grand Rapids,” Jason Spaulding said in the release. “This is the best outdoor patio in Grand Rapids, and we want to make this a destination the west side can be proud of.”
A grand opening celebration will take place on July 11. Broad Leaf will be open Thursday through Sunday.
