The couple had undergone many changes in the 160-square-meter home in the heart of Modi'in that they bought as newlyweds and where they raised their three daughters into their teenage years. Wanting a fresh start, they enlisted the help of interior designer Iris Pérez Azoulay.
“The residents wanted a beautifully designed, bright home with a youthful, cheerful feel. They highlighted the need for ample storage space, a large study, a large kitchen island for cooking and dining, and a special corner for the family piano,” says Pérez Azuray.
The color palette chosen for this home includes pastel tones that are soft, soothing and romantic. Light blue dominates in the kitchen, while delicate pink is used in the dining area and the entrance hall. A refreshing mint color was chosen for the bathroom. The most prominent color is the central space, the living room, where a dark blue draws attention to the main walls and highlights the unique library and staircase.
Special attention was paid to the kitchen. “This is where all the family magic happens,” says Pérez Azulay. “The parents enjoy their morning coffee together here, and when the girls join them, they all get ready for the next day at school or work. When the girls come home from school, they do their homework here while dinner is being prepared. This is where they not only eat together, but also share secrets, gossip and discuss important topics.”
The kitchen was in relatively good condition, so it wasn't completely replaced, but it was significantly upgraded. It was transformed from a bland Formica kitchen into an interesting and practical space. Handles were replaced, glass inserts and upper cabinets were added, countertops were replaced, and special tile was incorporated. The most significant change was the addition of a large center island, which opened up the adjacent storage room, greatly expanding the kitchen space. In place of the storage room, a large light blue pantry was created.
The designers faced a challenge with the bathroom for their teenage daughters: how to design a large, luxurious bathroom for three teenage girls who spend a lot of time getting dressed. The relatively small previous space was expanded by incorporating a small, enclosed laundry area, freeing up previously unused and wasted space. Custom woodwork was used to create a ventilated drawer for dirty laundry and a separate closet for the Dyson vacuum cleaner, set off the floor. A bench was installed in the shower, the faucet was replaced, and pink tiles were chosen. The color palette included mint shades and powder pinks, touches of black profiles, and a matching terrazzo floor.
The daughters' bedrooms were designed in collaboration with them and tailored to their individual needs and wishes. The colours chosen are light and soft, reflecting their kindhearted personalities.
Special attention was also given to the home's transitional spaces for the whole family: the corridors between the bedrooms feature several niches with cabinets to store items shared by the whole family. A highlight is the cabinet dedicated to the family's beautiful and feminine shoes, designed as a decoration. The doors chosen for the different spaces are Pandor quietly closing interior doors, ensuring a light and discreet atmosphere on the one hand and maximum privacy on the other.
The parents' bedroom has been completely transformed. It is romantic and beautiful with a reading bench under the window. A large wardrobe is placed in the room and there is a make-up and dressing area at the entrance. The headboard wall is covered with delicate and romantic wallpaper with a floral pattern and a reading lamp is placed next to the comfortable bed, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere.
“From the very beginning, I found a client who knew how to define what she loved and wanted in the most positive and optimistic way. I immediately connected with her, understood her aspirations and her love. Together with the whole family, we embarked on a journey to make our dream come true. The process was fascinating and fun. The result was especially thrilling,” concludes Iris Peles-Azulay.
