GUILFORD, Conn. — The Seals, a 15-year-old North Carolina-based company that maintains, repairs and replaces refrigeration gaskets for commercial kitchens and foodservice, recently opened its first franchise location at 29 Soundview Road, Suite 12 in Guilford, Connecticut.
This marks The Seals' fourth location overall, and according to its website, the company serves many municipalities in South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.

Seals provides commercial refrigeration gasket maintenance, replacement and related services to foodservice business owners and managers.
Seals helps restaurants, supermarkets, convenience stores, caterers, hotels, school systems, nursing homes, hospitals and hospitality facilities install more efficient food and beverage refrigeration systems.
Additionally, The Seals helps these businesses avoid or quickly fix any refrigeration gasket issues identified during health inspections.
Seals Connecticut will initially focus on clients in New Haven and Middlesex counties, but can now provide services to any Connecticut-based business, the company said in a news release.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Guilford City Hall on June 20. Hosted by the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce, the event was attended by The Seals Connecticut franchise owner Greg Toews and his family, employees of The Seals, City Councilman Matt Hoey, Shoreline Chamber of Commerce President Dee Jacob, and other Guilford businesses and city government officials.
The company works with companies such as Chick-fil-A, Panera Bread, Olive Garden and Ruth's Chris Steak House, as well as small, independently owned restaurants such as Wooster Street Pizza (Cromwell and Meridan), Brew Bakers (Middletown) and Portofino's (Berlin), which is Tuers' first customer in Connecticut.
“We are pleased to offer this service to Connecticut restaurants. Our products and services help foodservice providers reduce costs and improve their health inspection scores. These cost savings and confidence in food safety benefit customers, too,” Toews said in a news release.
Andy Dinkin bought Gaskets Rock of the Carolinas and renamed the company The Seals in 2010.
“I started this company to provide peace of mind to foodservice owners concerned about the cost and effectiveness of commercial kitchen freezers and sealing solutions, oven and steamer gaskets, door closers, sweeps, strip curtains and other gaskets,” Dinkin said in a news release. “We have addressed these issues and become experts in helping restaurants, cafeterias, supermarkets and more comply with regulations and remain profitable.”
