Police say a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a woman in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 25, near West 58th Street and 10th Avenue.
The unidentified driver was driving a dark-colored SUV when the incident occurred around 3:40 a.m. and did not remain at the scene.
Police said a 28-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while sitting in the middle of West 58th Street near the Mount Sinai West Emergency Department. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police identified the woman as Lisette Guillen of Cypress Hills, Brooklyn.
An employee at the 24-hour G&G Deli grocery store (between 10th Avenue and West 58th Street/57th Avenue) said employees at the store noticed the street was blocked off due to police activity in the early morning hours. He said the deli's security cameras did not capture the hit-and-run incident because it happened across from the hospital between 10th Avenue and 9th Avenue.
No arrests have been made and the investigation by the New York Police Department's Highway Crash Investigation Unit remains ongoing.
The last hit-and-run incident in Hell's Kitchen occurred in January when a mother and her two sons were hit and injured by a black Toyota as they crossed West 42nd Street and Ninth Avenue.
