These full-color, dimmable white fixtures fit under cabinets and can be wired or plugged in to illuminate countertops. Cync lights are Matter-enabled and work with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, and Samsung SmartThings for smart home integration. I first got a sneak peek at the lights at CES 2023 and was excited that this could finally be a great solution to my smart kitchen lighting problems.
If you've ever remodeled a kitchen, you may have been stumped by the lack of a way to wire smart lighting under your cabinets. This was my experience a few years ago when I wanted to install some smart, dimmable white lights under my cabinets to brighten my kitchen countertops.
There were no wired options for under-cabinet smart LED lights; the only options I could find were to either hardwire a standard LED light strip to a smart switch (which means you can't change the color or dim it, but you can control it remotely and on a schedule) or use a plug-in smart light strip to get the effect I wanted (but that would take up several outlets in the kitchen and mean thick cables running everywhere).
And at CES earlier this year, we saw Cync's under-cabinet lights installed and working in a mock kitchen, and we were very impressed. Their wide but slim profile makes them nearly invisible under the cabinets from most angles, yet they put out more light than a standard light strip. They also have a diffusing effect, so you don't get that harsh pinpoint light from the LEDs bouncing off your countertop. We have a few samples to test and will bring you a full review soon.
The coloured and dimmable white light is perfect for any kitchen ambience – use it as task lighting while cooking or cleaning, then switch to dimmable colour-changing lighting when you want a more atmospheric and colourful light for dinner or when it's time to relax.
Cync's new lights have all these features and work with the Cync app, powered by the Savant smart home system, which allows you to set the lights on a schedule and add them to scenes, and are compatible with smart home platforms for voice control and other features, as well as having a physical button for direct control.
Cync Smart Undercabinet Fixtures require a 120V AC power source and run on 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. They're available in 12-inch ($59.99), 18-inch ($64.99), and 24-inch ($69.99) edgelight bars, as well as a 3-inch diameter puck light ($84.99). For larger spaces, you can connect up to 10 lights and power them all from a single power source.
