June 28th, morning tvN'of'Ginny's Kitchen'I attended the press conference for the first broadcast of season 2!
In season 2, the “Genie's Kitchen” crew, consisting of Lee Seo-jin, Jung Yu-mi, Park Seo-joon, Choi Woo-sik and Go Min-si, travel to Iceland to open a Korean restaurant serving Lee Seo-jin's favorite dishes.
Along with the change of location, another change viewers can expect in season 2 is the introduction of new intern Go Min-si. She BTSV will be appearing in season one while the other is away for his military service obligation.
Regarding why Go Min-si was chosen as the new intern for season 2, PD Na Young-seok said: “We wanted to choose a young, rising star, so we did a lot of research. Of course, Go Min-si is currently a talented actress who is working hard in her career, but after doing some research, we found out that she had actually had a lot of work before becoming an actress. To the public, the working environment here may seem very casual, but there is still a system in place. So we felt that Go Min-si would be able to adapt to this system and contribute to the team. In particular, Go Min-si was promoted quickly while working as a wedding planner. Seeing that, I felt that she would fit in well here.”
Next, PD Na Young Seok talks about the differences between the two interns, V and Go Min Si. “Yes, there were human qualities that V showed in Season 1, but in reality, our show is about running a restaurant. It's not a real restaurant. If you really want to introduce Korean food to locals, and that's your main goal, you should invite a professional chef. But if you make a team of actors and run a restaurant overseas, there's also a process for the actors to learn about food, cooking, and business. In Season 1, V showed viewers the image of a young man just starting out in the workforce, including his fun personality, his wit, and the challenges he faced.” The producer explained.
He continued: “The case of Go Min-si is a little different. She is also a representative young person who has just started her career in society, but she has experience and skills, and she is someone who wants to be recognized and wants to work hard and achieve results. The two characters are quite different. I hope that viewers will be able to observe the natural differences.”
“Genie's Kitchen” will premiere on tvN at 8:40 PM KST on June 28 and will be simultaneously streamed worldwide through Prime Video.
