ALBION – Crosby's celebrated the grand reopening of its Albion North store this morning. The store was closed for most of April for renovations. The store reopened on May 1. Company officials joined local employees and the community for a grand reopening celebration at 202 North Main St. today.
The store now has an expanded kitchen area, and Crosby's has added sandwiches to its food menu, as well as a variety of breakfast items, including pizza, calzones and breakfast pizza.
Linda Pickett, an employee at Crosby's, cleans surfaces in the kitchen area. The store has seven employees.
Crosby's presented a $500 donation to the Albion Fire Department, pictured, from left, are store manager Becca Smith, district leader Brenda Thompson, assistant fire chief John Paponetti and Crosby's operations manager Dave George.
The company is also donating 40 pizzas to Albion Central School to redeem on their My Crosby's Rewards Card. Crosby's also donated $100 to the Orleans County Historical Department as a token of appreciation for the use of historical Albion photos displayed in the store.
Several photos from Albion's past are part of the new store redesign, including this photo of Main Street in the 1940s.
The store is owned by Lockport-based Reed Group, which is made up of Crosby's and Reed Petroleum Corp. The group operates 90 Crosby's stores in western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania.
Reed officials noted that the site at 202 North Main St. was formerly Mimi's Gulf, opened in the mid-1950s by Carol and Dominic Martirotta. The site was Genesee Farm from 1982 to 1997 and Yellow Goose until 2017, when it became Crosby's.
Dave George of Crosby's said the company wants to continue the tradition started by the Martillotta family in the mid-1950s.
“It was more than just a business,” he says. “It was a cornerstone of the community.”
