When will supermarkets have yellow sticker sales?
The timing of when supermarkets reduce prices on products varies by store.
Here's a rough guide per supermarket:
Aldi
Aldi uses red stickers to indicate discounts on fresh products such as bread, meat, fruit and vegetables.
This is when the last day of the expiration date is reached.
Items with red stickers are often seen at opening and closing times.
MS
Markdown times vary by store, but are most likely to occur close to closing time.
Asda
Asda told Which? that the yellow stickers will be placed twice a day, in the morning and in the evening.
Coop
Co-op told The Sun that its discount sales usually apply around four hours before stores close.
Riddle
Lidl follows a similar process to Asda and Aldi by lowering prices twice a day.
However, individual stores may choose to lower prices throughout the day.
Morrisons
Online shoppers say Morrisons has the best deals first thing in the morning.
However, the store told Which? there is no specific time frame for the yellow sticker price cuts.
Sainsbury's
Sainsbury's told The Sun that it was at the discretion of store managers whether to offer the discount.
But shoppers say the best deals are in the evenings, from 6pm onwards.
Tesco
Tesco said it had not decided on a specific time for the price cuts, but most people saw them starting at 6pm.
Waitrose
As with most other stores, Waitrose shoppers say the best deals can be found before the store closes.
However, the store says it has not decided on a specific time for putting up the yellow stickers.
“Went to Aldi today and didn't check the middle aisle. Please tell me they'll have it in tomorrow,” one person commented.
Aldi responded: “These products have just launched today so you need to get yours now.”
“Hopefully you'll find it in your local store tomorrow.”
Another person commented: “Please provide more stock in the stores. I went to one store at 9.15am and the other at 9.30am and everything was sold out.”
