Kmart shoppers are going wild for a $15 microwave toast maker after a dessert toast recipe was posted on Instagram. The Morphy Richards Mico Toastie is selling for around $50 online.
“Have you seen our new $15 microwave toast maker? 👀 Perfect for making warm toast on the go! Available in 4 colours and available to buy now online, in store or on our app 🥪,” she wrote, alongside a video of peanut butter, banana and apple toast with ice cream.

The Microwave Toast Maker is available in a variety of colors, including pink, blue, and green, and claims to “make crispy toasted sandwiches in minutes in the microwave at home or on the go.” It's BPA-free, has easy-to-clean non-stick coated plates, and is dishwasher safe.
Kmart's website adds a warning: “Recommended for use in microwaves of 1000W or less. Maximum use time of 3 minutes at a time. Do not use without food inside.”
“I've been waiting for the day that Kmart would sell this! There's a company that sells this. [for] “50 dollars,” one Instagram user commented on the post, while another added, “I have 50 dollars.” [one] I've been using it for about 18 months now and love it, but I'll be buying the Kmart ones.”
“I bought one, then a second the next day,” a third said. “I've told the whole family about it – the kids love it, it's a lot easier to clean than a waffle maker and it's quicker than making toast in a frying pan.”
Another added: “For people with coeliac disease, it's not easy to enjoy toast at work – this could be a game changer to avoid cross-contamination.”
“It said it had just arrived and now it's sold out 😳,” said one surprised fan.

One Instagram user was not convinced, saying: “I don't think putting aluminium plates in the microwave is such a good idea… 🤔”, while another replied: “As long as it's not pure aluminium then it's ok. It's packaged so that the aluminium doesn't come into direct contact with the microwave so it's ok.”
